Driven by its corporate-friendly taxation system, burgeoning status as a hub for VC investment, and a maturing legal marijuana industry, Denver is becoming an increasing draw for Big Law. In 2022 alone, attorney headcount at NLJ 500 firms in the Metro Denver area increased 8% to 2,310 lawyers. Since 2018, the number of attorneys at NLJ 500 firms in Denver has increased by 13%, primarily driven by the continued expansion and growth of firms based outside the region.

Further, since 2018, total headcount has grown 26% across these newly entered firms. Attorney headcount in Denver at NLJ 500-sized law firms recovered with an 8% increase overall in 2022 after modest growth in 2021, and firms HQ’d in Denver saw a 4% growth in headcount in 2022 and a 7% increase in headcount over three years.
