Alan D. Axelrod, the corporate and securities group chair and a founding partner at Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod in Miami, who stayed out of the limelight throughout his legal career, died on Tuesday from a heart attack in his office. He was 72 years old.

Al Dotson Jr., the managing partner at Bilzin Sumberg, said Axelrod was a pillar of the law firm as a founder since its launch 25 years ago, and Axelrod’s career in the corporate arena put him at the center of many of the largest transactions that took place in Florida and across the country.
