I talk to lots of folks about document automation software. During a proof-of-concept or product demonstration, a vendor will invariably call out a feature as “just like HotDocs.” So much so, I thought it time to revisit AbacusNext’s HotDocs Advance to understand future calls to a market leader in document automation.

HotDocs has made the rounds among legal software providers. In 2017, AbacusNext acquired HotDocs from Capsoft UK, which acquired it from LexisNexis in 2009, after it received HotDocs from the acquisition of Matthew Bender in 1999. That’s a lot of baggage to carry around, but AbacusNext left much of it in HotDocs Classic version 11.2 when it released HotDocs Advance.
